Public Welfare
by Rick Stanley

Until the American welfare state is ended, we will not solve the problem of poverty in the midst of plenty.

We cannot solve the problem of poverty until we change the way the federal government relates to American citizens. All Americans must be held in the highest esteem. Our government must regard each person as a citizen, not as a servile taxpayer. America is not an aristocracy. It is not a monarchy. America is a Republic .

The concept of taking anything from one individual by government force and giving it to another is un-American. This government-sponsored fraud must stop immediately.

Americans abhor the state-sponsored welfare system. Americans take pride in earning their own way and pulling their own weight. We do not want the government forcing a socialist agenda upon the American people ever again.

Voluntary charity comes naturally to Americans. It is in our blood. We are descended from the American Patriots who shed their blood in 1776. They knew what giving was all about, and so do we. Our government must never force charity upon the American people, who give freely to help one another.

Quotes about Welfare

"Mr. Clinton has used the blood of innocents to advance his political agenda to disarm American citizens. His argument is based on the fallacy that criminals using guns constitute a "gun problem" rather than a cultural problem created by three generations of liberal social policies, which have, effectively, institutionalized poverty and cultural deviancy and created a captive constituency dependent on the welfare state."

-- The Federalist

"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first."

- Mark Twain

"When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both."

- James Dale Davidson,
"National Taxpayers Union"
