Whack'em & Stack'em: Dealing With That Deadly 2x4By J.J. Johnson

Westminster, Colorado - Let the hate mail begin. All it takes is a report
of yet another justifiable off-ing to get some of our readers' blood
boiling. But there's nothing better to start the week than feasting on a
little fresh meat of a whacked perp that once again - had it coming.
Sergio Alejandro Medrano - well, we can't say a good thing about him,
except that he lived to age 50. But that's all part of the 'stack'. Ranch
readers want to hear about the 'whack' first - so they have a good reason
to fuss at the author.
According to police, he was seen looking into windows. Hence, armed
officer thought he was a burglar. Remember that when you're caught
peeking through a window. Also remember that holding the preferred weapon
of most burglars - a wooden board (2x4) is even more reason not to be
caught window shopping.
The off-duty officer was visiting his mommy, and minding his own business
at around 12:50 p.m. Monday (read: broad daylight).
The officer identified himself as a police officer and told the subject
to show his hands. And sorry, since this shooting is completely
justifiable, we can't disclose any information on the officer.
And so, in an era where simply disobeying an officer can get you killed,
Medrano decided that the officers gun was no match for the 2x4 in his
hand. Thus, according to police, rather than complying to the cop's
orders, he decide to approach the off duty cop - with board in hand.
That's our story, and we're sticking to it.
Medrano gave his best Barry Bonds home run swings at those flying
bullets, but apparently struck out - literally.
Welcome to the world of Whack'em & Stack'em.
And now, before anyone dares question why a person would attack a cop
holding a gun with a 2z4; before anyone asks why a burglar would use a
2x4 to break into a home in the first place, and before anyone would ask
why would anyone think a board would be any match for an opponent with a
gun, let's stack this perp:
He has gone by various aliases, including Daniel Lomey. He was arrested
under that name for investigation of shoplifting, traffic offenses and a
warrant for failure to appear in court, records show.
Medrano's arrest record dates back to 1976, according to the Colorado
Bureau of Investigation.
Whew! Glad we got that out of our system.
Now just where do you think the media got these reports? And of course,
the shooter knew all of this before firing his weapon, right?
Some of you will be pleased to know that Westminster has been creating a
Whack & Stack'em gallery of its own. Seems this was the second off-ing in
this little hamlet in six months. In the other incident, he was on duty
when a man with a van tried to run over an officer.
Gee, when have we heard that before?
Of course, the cops in that case were promptly cleared of that shooting.
No doubt this officer will be as well. Next victim, please?

On September twenty-ninth 2003 in Westminster Colorado, Sergio Medrano,
fifty, "was seen looking into windows" around noon.
An off-duty officer told Medrano to show his hands.
Medrano decided to approach the officer -with a two-by-four in his hand.
Predictible result?
Sergio Medrano won't be turning fifty-one this year -or next.
