MOST WANTED: A CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT

(DENVER, 11:00 am)After reading today's headline story in the Denver Post ("Most wanted: police recruits") Rick Stanley, the Libertarian nominee for U.S. Senate from Colorado, released the following statement.

"It's no surprise that police departments all across America are finding it increasingly difficult to recruit new staff. The police chiefs can flap their jaws about their budgets and too much competition from the private sector all they want. All that hot air will not change the truth.

"The truth is simple. The traitors in Washington are turning America into a police state. Everybody knows it. The U.S.A. Patriot act is nothing less than an outright repeal of the Bill of Rights. This unconstitutional government is waging war against the American people on a thousand fronts. The citizenry can see what's going on, and they want no part of it.

"I'm not suggesting that every policeman in America is a fascist. Far from it. There are still plenty of good, decent Americans filling out the thin blue line. But the cops are being ordered to enforce thousands of unconstitutional laws, and the citizens' resentment is building fast. It's no surprise, then, that so many young people are considering a career in law enforcment and rejecting it out of hand.

They are not willing to terrorize their fellow Americans. They do not want to become the new black shirts in the Amerikkkan Nazi cause.

"The administration in Washington could solve this problem in a heartbeat if they wanted to. They could start by repealing all the unconstitutional laws that are already on the books. For starters they could repeal the U.S.A. Patriot act and the recently enacted Campaign Deform Act, then end the War on Drugs. Immediately.

"Of course, Benedict Allard and the rest of the traitors in Congress will never do that. That's why I have to go to Washington next year. We must repeal all unconstitutional laws. Now. We must end the War on Drugs. Immediately. We must end the assault on American privacy and property that masquerades as the U.S.A. Patriot act. Today. And we must restore the Constitution to its proper place, as the supreme Law of the Land.

"Then, and only then, will we live in the free and virtuous society that is our birthright. Then, and only then, will the policeman's badge become a badge of honor once again, and not the badge of shame it sadly is today."
