March 5th Court Appearance Leads to New Trial Date of May 7, 2002

(DENVER CO) Rick Stanley, U.S. Senate Candidate for the Libertarian Party, today made the following statement:

My gun rights trial scheduled for March 5, 2002, in the foreign country of City and County of Denver, has now been rescheduled for May 7, 2002 at 8:00A.M. in courtroom 151P.

Judge Robert L. Patterson, at the Denver County Court noted that May 24, 2002 was the last date for the speedy trial constitutional right. Why doesn't the City and County of Denver recognize my constitutional right to keep and bear arms? This judge, as well as all judges have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution, both the federal and state constitutions. My motion to dismiss this case revolves around Denver's lack of jurisdiction and violation of my rights. This motion will be put up on my website at www.stanley2002.org in the next few days. Where is the ACLU to defend my rights? At what level in the judicial branch will I find a judge that will have the courage and conviction to uphold my rights?

Remember Denver citizens, you are defenseless through disarming until I win this case and all of our rights are upheld regarding the 2nd Amendment guarantee to keep and bear arms."
