On 03/23/02 at high noon the Western Slope Libertarian Party conducted a Bill of Rights Rally at the Montrose County Fairgrounds in Montrose, CO.  John Duncan started by reading the Bill of Rights followed by Jo Jo Ping who talked about the dangers of the Emergency War Act and how it is continually applied.  Ken Herric read an article from Soldier of Fortune Magazine and then LP Candidate for Mesa County Sheriff John Gurley gave a speech about why he is running and his issues.  This was followed by LP Gubernatorial Candidates for Governor of Colorado James Vance and Ralph Shnelvar who gave speeches about the First and Second Amendments respectively.  Mike Humbert gave a talk about Libertarianism and the Libertarian Sheriff Bill Masters of San Miguel County talked about the correlation between the war on drugs and the war on firearms.  There was a decent sized turnout and everyone had a good time.
