Labor
by Rick Stanley

The federal government does not have the Constitutional authority to interfere with any citizens' right to work and enjoyment of the fruits of their labor. Government intrusion into the free-market system is un-American and has disastrous effects upon the American people.

Labor unions should not be treated with special favors, nor should they be regulated by the government. The free-market system demands that government stay out of relationships between employee and employer. If an employee or employer is unhappy with the relationship, then either should be able to terminate the relationship for just cause.

Any labor issues that the federal government currently deals with, should be dealt with at the state and local level.

Quotes about Labor

"Every man has a property in his own person. This nobody has any right to but himself. The labor of his body and the work of his hands are properly his."

--John Locke

"A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and all that is necessary to close the circle of our felicities."

-- Thomas Jefferson,
in his 1801 inaugural address
