| DENVER U.S. Senator Wayne Allard,
R-CO, was in Denver Monday to announce his re-election
campaign. He officially kicked off his campaign Sunday in his hometown of Loveland. The first-term Republican made today's announcement at the Shattuck Superfund site. Many residents say hazardous waste buried under the rocks will be moved thanks in part to the efforts of Senator Allard. The senator says that the cleanup is an example of what can happen when the federal government and local residents work together. There are show horses and there are workhorses. As a longtime veterinarian, I know the difference, said Allard. That's why I've been a workhorse for Colorado as your Senator. And that's why I will be a workhorse as a candidate for re-election. Allard's likely Democratic opponent in November will be former U.S. Attorney Tom Strickland. That would be a rematch of the race six years ago, which Allard won. Libertarian Rick Stanley is also a candidate. |
