Abortion
By Rick Stanley

I don't believe in abortion, personally. I don't believe that government should be used by anyone to prevent what is a personal responsibility issue. Our present law is adequate. We, as Americans, should make it our social & moral agenda and leave government out of it.

Government should not pay for, or promote, abortion.

If we, as Americans, want the freedom to choose in all matters, then we may have to accept a matter we personally do not believe in, to secure all our other freedoms as well.

When a special interest group can use the power of the government to force its agenda, then that same power can be abused in any matter to force Americans to comply with any special interest group that comes along.

Our Constitution and Bill of Rights were designed to protect us from special interest groups that would create unconstitutional laws to achieve their specific agendas. If our elected officials would only honor their committment to uphold the Constitution, the epidemic of special interest group "favors" granted at the expense of taxpayer citizens would be eradicated entirely.

This is where you come in, America. Read the Constitution and its amendments. Hold it to be sacred and make your government honor and defend it.

Rick has received a lot of e-mail on this topic. Here is one message from a friend that really lays Rick's position on the line.

Sadly, there are probably many more horror stories of women who have had abortions (legally) coming face-to-face with what abortion really is and not being able to live with it. What about the woman who succumbs to depression, drug abuse, or even suicide because she can't live with the memory of having had her unborn child ripped from her womb in a violent act that victimizes the mother as much as it does the tiny baby within her? Abortion is an act of violence against two people--the mother and her child. Can you imagine what a woman suffers each year as the anniversary of the abortion draws near, and she finds herself grieving the loss of a child she hasn't been allowed to mourn? Anyone who thinks that legal abortions don't hurt women should read Her Choice to Heal, co-authored by my dear friend, Joan Phillips. I believe it is available from Cook Communications. It will radically change the way you view abortion, even if you are pro-life. Women who have had abortions should not be judged; they are victims in need of the healing that can only come from Jesus Christ, who died to set us free.

Blessings,
Julie

Rick's response:
Thank you, Julie, for your perspective. I am in total agreement with you, as long as it is up to the individual woman to make that decision for herself and what is in her own body. If she can live with that decision, it is between her and God.

Thank you so much for giving us your perspective, and lets hope that society will start focusing on what you just did, instead of trying to use the force of government to make someone do the right thing. It is the right thing, to have the baby and give it up for adoption, if the child is unwanted for any reason at all. The reason is unimportant. What matters is that there are many childless couples out there who will welcome these babies, when they are born, with open arms. Please, folks, let's concentrate on this as an answer for abortion. We as a society will all be better off.

Sincerely,
Rick Stanley
